MSDE, APACHE, and JAVA Installation Instructions
(For Site Manager, Back Office, and POS 
Version 2.3 and Greater)

PROBLEM:
MSDE, APACHE, and JAVA Installation Instructions (For Site Manager, Back Office, and POS Version 2.3 and Greater).

 

SOLUTION

Preliminary
  • These instructions do not apply after a failed installation attempt.
  • These instructions do not apply for an upgrade from earlier versions.
  • Close all programs.
  • Reboot the Server.
  • When the CD is inserted it will automatically run the LunchBox installation.
    • Click Cancel
    • Click Exit Setup
  • POS BackOffice Server Naming Conventions:
    • Set the Server Name before installing MSDE.
    • Do not use a completely numeric Server Name.
    • Do not use dashes in the Server Name.

Installing MSDE2K (SQL Server 2K - Desktop Edition):

    • (typically CD-Drive:\other\MSDE 2K)

  • Run Setup.exe

  • Use all defaults

    • (Contact support to install to a drive other than C:)

  • Reboot the Server

Installing the JRE (Java Runtime Environment, Java Virtual Machine):

  • Using Windows Explorer locate the folder with the JRE install.
    • (typically CD-Drive:\other)
  • Run j2re-1_3_1_01-win.exe
  • Use all the install defaults

Installing the JSDK (Java Servlet Dev. Kit):

  • Using Windows Explorer locate the folder with the JSDK install.

    • (typically CD-Drive:\other)

  • Run JSDK20-win32.exe

  • Use all the install defaults

Installing the Apache Web Page Server:

  • Using Windows Explorer locate the folder with the Apache install.

    • (typically CD-Drive:\other)

  • Run apache_1_3_11_win32.exe

  • Use all the install defaults

Installing the Apache Jserv:

  • Using Windows Explorer locate the folder with the Apache Jserv install

    • (typically CD-Drive:\other)

  • Run ApackeJServ-1.1.exe

  • Use install defaults untilÉ

    • Java Virtual Machine directory

¯       Select C:\Program Files\JavaSoft\JRE\1.3.1\bin

    • Java Servlet Development Kit  2.0 directory

¯       Select C:\jsdk.2.0\lib

    • Apache Configuration ÒDo you want to modify the file Ôhttpd.confÕ Ò\

¯       Click on YES

    • Apache installation directory (httpd.conf)

¯       Select C:\ProgramFiles\Apache Group\Apache\conf

  • Restart the Computer

 Installing the Apache Web Server as a Service (and strating the services)

  1. Click on Start / Programs / Apache Web Server / Install Apache as a service

  2. Click on Start / Settings / Control Panel / Services

  3. When the Services window opens click on Apache

  4. Click on the Start button

  5. Remain in the Services window

  6. Click on the Crystal Web Page Server service

  7. Click on the Start button

  8. Close all programs and windows

  9. Reboot the Server

Installing POS BackOffice or SiteManager

      NOTE: This will cause the Server to automatically reboot without asking you

 1. Reinsert the LunchBox installation CD to activate the autorun.
        (If the CD doesnÕt autorun, then explore it and run Setup.exe in the CDÕs root) 

2   Select either POS BackOffice or SiteManager and click Next

3  Select Full Installation and click Next

4. The remainder of the installation should finish without user intervention and the Server will reboot automatically.

Installing POS Terminal

       NOTE: POS Terminal installation will automatically initiate installation of the JRE (Java Runtime Environment) and the JMF (Java Media Framework). These installation will start Ôon topÕ of the POS Terminal installation. It is vitally important that you install POS Terminal in the order shown below. Be patient for the two Java installations to begin.

1. Insert the LunchBox installation CD to activate the autorun
(If the CD doesnÕt autorun, then explore it and run Setup.exe in the CDÕs root)

2.  Select POS Terminal and click Next

3.  When prompted to Òinstall the Java Runtime EnvironmentÓ click Yes

4.  On the Software License Agreement dialog click Yes

5.  On the Choose Destination Location dialog click Next

6.  When prompted to Restart the Computer choose No, I will restart my computer later and click Finish

7.  When prompted to Ò install the JMFÓ click Yes

8.  On the Software License Agreement dialog click Yes

9.  On the Choose Destination Location dialog click Next

10.  On the Select Components dialog click Next

11.  Close the JMF window by clicking on the X in the upper right corner

12  When prompted to Restart the Computer choose No, I will restart my computer later and click Finish

13.  This should bring you back to the POS Terminal ÔWelcomÕ screen where you will run the actual POS Terminal portion of the installation.

14.  Click Next

15.  On the Information dialog click Next

16.  On the Choose Destination Location dialog click Next

17. On the "Enter Information" dialog enter then Machine Name of the POS BackOffice Server and click Next

18. Select Program Folder click Next

19. Reboot the Server (setup is complete)
